–The Algona Community School District has seen a jump in enrollment this fall when officials had originally predicted numbers would be down. During the school board meeting Monday, staff and administrators from the Middle School discussed how they are dealing with this influx of students, many of whom speak little or no English. Middle School Principal James Rotert addressed the board about what they are seeing in the building.

Rotert says they began discussions on how to improve service to their English Language Learning (ELL) students.

Rotert went on to say that staff and administrators got together before the year started to put a plan in place.

Along with an influx of ELL students at the Middle School, the district is seeing higher numbers at the Elementary buildings as well.
