–A West Bend teen was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning near Titonka.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Ian Thomas Roethler of West Bend was traveling westbound on 210th Avenue in a 2020 GMC Sierra just after 12 AM Sunday when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.
After leaving the road surface, Roethler’s truck entered the west ditch, where it struck a field drive and went airborne, flipping end over end.
Roethler was transported to Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona by Titonka EMS with what were described as serious injuries, as the accident report states that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $70,000. Roethler will be cited for failure to maintain control and for not wearing his seat belt.
