–The CEO of Summit Carbon Solutions says the company will not begin negotiating with new landowners along their proposed pipeline route until later this summer. Since the conclusion of their permit application hearing with the Iowa Utilities Board last year, Summit has reached agreements with both POET and Valero to incorporate their ethanol plants into the original pipeline project. Summit CEO Lee Blank recently spoke with KLGA News about where the project stands, and what changes can be expected by adding more than 20 ethanol plants to the original route.
Blank talked about how they plan to incorporate those additional facilities into their proposed pipeline.
Blank says the company could begin public meetings on the additions to the project in late June or early July, depending on when they get the go ahead from the IUB.
The original pipeline route was to travel through Kossuth County from east to west, nearly 5 miles south of Algona. By adding the Valero plant near Lakota, Summit is proposing another 22 miles of pipeline traveling through the eastern part of the county. A group of concerned citizens plans to hold an informational meeting about the project Friday at the Wesley Community Center, beginning at 6 PM.
