–Elementary students in the Algona Community School District will be starting classes a little earlier each day in the upcoming year. Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News that the change is an effort to give teachers a little bit more time with their students each day.

Carter says students at Bertha Godfrey and Lucia Wallace will now begin classes at 8:10 AM, but they will still be dismissed at the same time as they have in year’s past.

Students that eat breakfast at school can now do so sooner, while the rest of the kids can be dropped off at 8 AM.

There will be no change in start times for students at the Middle School or High School, who will begin classes on Friday, August 23rd. Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade will begin classes on August 26th.
