–An Emmetsburg woman is facing drunk driving charges following a two-vehicle collision along US Highway 18 near Ruthven Sunday night.
According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of an accident at the intersection of US Highway 18 and 370th Avenue, 2 miles east of Ruthven around 8:15 PM. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies determined a 2016 Ford Explorer, driven by 65-year-old Debra Lee Metz or Emmetsburg, was southbound on 370th Avenue.
When Metz reached Highway 18, she failed to stop at the intersection, and collided with an eastbound 2015 Jeep Wrangler, owned by 46-year-old Thomas Grantham of Fort Dodge. No injuries were reported, with damage to both vehicles estimated at $10,000.
As a result of the accident, Metz was arrested on charges of OWI-1st offense and booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Ruthven Fire Department and personnel from Palo Alto County EMS.
