New Policies in Place For Schools in Iowa

–School begins next week across the state of Iowa, and teachers and administrators now have some new policies in place as to when a student may be removed from class. Superintendent Joe Carter reviewed the new policies with the school board during their meeting last week.

The updated policies were approved by the state legislature in Senate File 2428 earlier this year in an attempt to limit disruptive behavior in the classroom and make clear distinctions that teachers and administrators can follow.

These new policies also lay out when a student can rejoin their class if they have to be removed.

Carter says these policies also require a substantial amount of paperwork for the staff members involved.

The new policies will be reviewed by staff members on a monthly basis throughout the year to look at data and show how the policy is working.
