–An Algona man who works closely with one of the area’s biggest holiday tourist attractions is the latest recipient of the “1440 Citizen of the Month” award from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Roger Fisher announced this week that Marv Chickering is the “1440” award winner for November. Chickering was nominated for his years of dedicated service towards the Algona POW Nativity Scene, located on the Kossuth County Fairgrounds.

In nominating Chickering, it is mentioned he dedicates an unbelievable amount of time to help keep this holiday tradition available for people to tour and learn about the history of the Algona POW Camp. Chickering has also used his time to serve nearly 30 mission trips on behalf of his church, making him a truly deserving recipient.

If you know someone who lives or works in Kossuth County that represents a positive and caring attitude towards others, you can nominate them for the “1440” award by emailing Sheriff Roger Fisher at [email protected] or by filling out the form available on the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
