–The State Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to investigate a weekend fire at a home in Estherville that has been ruled suspicious.
According to the Estherville Fire Department, Firefighters were called to 427 North 18th Street just after 6 PM Sunday as smoke was reportedly coming from the home. Upon arrival, Firefighters found an occupant of the residence and another person outside attempting to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters were initially told another person was in the home at the time, but after entering the residence and putting the fire out, no one else was found inside. Law enforcement was also contacted at this time, as the fire appeared suspicious to those at the scene.
The State Fire Marshall’s Office was contacted to try and determine the origins of the blaze, as the case remains under investigation.
