–Cleanup continues from Wednesday’s blizzard that dumped more than a foot of snow on parts of Kossuth County, to go along with winds of up to 60 MPH that caused white out conditions and travel nightmares.

Snow fall totals reported to the National Weather Service Office in Des Moines show the highest amounts from Wednesday’s storm dropped on Kossuth County, with a report of 14.5 inches taken in the Lakota area, 12 inches in Ledyard and 11 near Buffalo Center.

The southern part of Kossuth County did not escape the storm, as reports of 12.5 and 11.5 inches were taken in and around Algona.

Snowfall totals varied greatly across the area Wednesday, with lower amounts reported to the North and West of Algona. The NWS reports a total of 8 inches north of Swea City, but 25 miles west near Estherville, just 2 inches fell. Emmetsburg, which is just 25 miles from Algona, recorded just 5.6 inches according to the NWS.
