–The Algona City Council awarded a contract for the Nebraska Street Corridor project to a Fort Dodge company during their meeting this week. Matt Cole is a Project Engineer with Bolton & Menk, and he addressed the council during a public hearing prior to the vote on Monday.
Cole says the project will have a familiar feel to it when completed.
Following a public hearing, the council voted on a resolution to award the contract.
Castor Construction’s bid of just over $2.5 Million came in nearly 25% below the estimated project costs. Part of those costs will be covered by a $275,000 grant from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship as a part of a water quality initiative. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer with work on the streets and parking lot to be completed by mid-November.
