–Iowa Lakes Community College has once again been designated as a Military Friendly School for their efforts in assisting students who have served our country. Iowa Lakes earned Silver Status for 2025-2026 by demonstrating their dedication to supporting military students and their families. Tim Ireland serves as the Veterans Center Director on the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes, and he tells KLGA News the designation comes from survey results collected from more than 1,800 schools nationwide.
Part of the recognition stems from the persistent contact Iowa Lakes has with their military students, as Ireland says they meet with these students 4 to 5 times a semester.
Ireland says many military students aren’t quite sure exactly what benefits their service entitles them to when they begin their course work.
Iowa Lakes houses Veterans Centers on three of their campuses in an attempt to serve military students more efficiently.
The 2025-2026 list of Military Friendly Schools will be published in the May and October issues of GI Jobs magazine and can be found online at www.militaryfriendly.com.
