***This story has been edited to correctly identify the driver involved. A clerical error in the accident report supplied to KLGA News by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s office incorrectly identified the driver that was previously reported.
–Only minor injuries were reported following a one-vehicle accident late last week where the driver left the roadway and struck a tree in Burt.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Hernandez-Chaco Grecia of Burt was southbound on 5th street in a 2018 Cadillac XT5 just before 3:30 PM on Friday, April 11th. Grecia told Deputies she became distracted by a crying child in the backseat, taking her eyes of the road for a moment to check on the situation.
Before she realized what was going on, Grecia had left the roadway and struck a tree on the east side of the road. She reported only minor injuries and was not transported from the scene.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $12,000, while damage to the tree was estimated at $1,000.
