State troopers say a one-car accident on Highway 17 near Eagle Grove early Sunday killed a Webster City man.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the victim is identified as 36-year-old Jose Casiano. The accident report states that Casiano was driving a 2012 Mercedes Benz GL 450 erratically on Highway 17 in Eagle Grove, around 12:30 AM Sunday.
A Wright County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the Casiano vehicle traveling at speeds up to 130 miles per hour. Casiano failed to negotiate a curve about 3 miles south of Eagle Grove and crashed into a ditch. The report further stated that Casiano was not wearing a seat belt, he was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
