–Testimony resumed Wednesday morning in the First-Degree Murder trial of Kyle Lou Ricke, the man accused of killing Algona Police Officer Kevin Cram in September of last year. The prosecution continued their case from Tuesday, by calling Evan Thompson from the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation. Thompson serves as an investigator for the DCI’s Major Crime Unit, and was called in to assist with the investigation on the night of September 13th, 2023. Thompson then testified about the defendant’s responses when the conversation turned to the shooting of Officer Cram

Thompson also tried to ascertain the location of the gun used that night.

Following Thompson’s testimony, the state called Kristin Hart, a ballistics expert from the DCI Crime Lab and Aaron Onder, another investigator with the Iowa DCI, and Dr. Jacob Smith from the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.
