–Law Enforcement officials are asking residents to be wary of a bank scam that is making its way around the area in recent days.
Scammers have been making phone calls that appear to be coming from a local bank, and the caller claims to be an employee of the bank. Reports say the caller tries to tell the customer that their accounts have been compromised, at which point they have been asking for the passwords associated with these accounts.
This particular call has been reported to law enforcement officials in Kossuth, Emmet, and Palo Alto counties in recent days.
Area residents are reminded to never give out passwords or any other personal information over the phone, as financial institutions will never call and ask for that access.
If you receive one of these phone calls, simply hang up and report the encounter to your local law enforcement agency.
